Mt.
Qingcheng is located at the Dujiangyan scenery spot, 50km northwest of
Chengdu, Sichuan province. It is one of the ancient cradles of Taoism.
It falls under the humid subtropical monsoon climate, with an annual average
temperature of 15 centigrade and the trees here are green all year round.
So it is reputed for both the brilliant Taoist cultural and paradisiacal
natural scenery.
The famous sites among the numerous historic relics are the Shangqing
Palace, the Jianfu Palace, and the Tianshi Cave. The Jianfu Palace is
the most brilliant site. It stands against the cliff under the Zhangren
Peak with an extraordinary bearing. Two halls and three compounds are
well- preserved today. In the west of the Jianfu Palace, there is a "natural
picture". When you standing on the rocks, the clouds and mist floating
under your foot, you may fancy that you are in the fairyland.
Two kilometers towards the north is the major temple of Mt. Qingcheng-
the Tianshi Cave. Many famous wood and stone tablets are in here including
the Tang Xuanzong's imperial decree and Yuefei's handwriting of Zhuge
Liang's famous piece Chu Shi Biao.
