Then Take a visit to Nanyue Five Tombs. With a history of up to
2100 years, the Nanyue King's Tomb is the earliest large-scale painted
stone-chamber tomb ever found in south. It is one of China's five greatest
archeological findings in recent years. The tomb belongs to the second
king, Zhao Mei of Nanyue State of the Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-24
A.D.).
Have a visit to Zhenhai Tower, a 28-meter-high Ming building
with five storeies and commanding a bird's-eye view of the whole city.
Move on to visit Chen Clan Temple. Built between 1890 and 1894 during
the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, This ancestral temple
is the largest, best preserved, and best decorated ancient architecture
existing in Guangdong province. The temple used to provide lodgings
for candidates of the Chen family who came to Guangdong to prepare for
imperial examinations in Guangzhou. Hence it was also called Chen Clan
Academy.
Visit the Peasants Movement Institute. Located at
the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, The Memorial of the Former
Site of the Peasant Movement Institute Directed by Comrade Mao Zedong,
is a museum in memory of the Chinese revolution.
