Guangzhou One Day City Tour of Giant Buddha Temple and Sacred Heart Cathedral

Be picked up from your hotel by private tour guide and vehicle at 08:30 am.
Visit Giant Buddha Temple. Giant Buddha Temple is one of the five largest Buddhist temples in Guangzhou. It was first built during the Southern Han Dynasty (917-971), with the name of "Xinzang Temple". The Main Shrine Hall is 18 meters high and covers 1,277 square meters. Three are enshrined in the hall, with 6 meters tall and 10 tons in weight. The first public Buddhist library in Guangdong province is located in this temple.

Then we will visit Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Located on the Shanmian Island, Church of Our Lady of Lourdes was built in 1892 by French. It is an architecture with Gothic style. There is a spire on the top of the church. A hill is established to the east side to settle the status of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Move on to visit Sacred Heart Cathedral. Sacred Heart Cathedral, also called Shishi(Stone House), was built in 1863 and completed in 1888. Covering an total area of 2754 square meters, it is the biggest Catholic church in Guangzhou and one of the Gothic architectures with double steeples in China. It is also the biggest Catholic church with stone structure in Southest Aisa. All walls and pillars of the church are made of granite stones. All windows and doors are fit with colorful glass.

Then visit Guang Xiao Temple. Guangxiao Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Guangzhou. It was originally the residence of Nanyue King, with a history of over 1500 years. With magnificent and imposing appearance, the temple houses a lot of historical relics, such as the Mahavira Hall built in Eastern Jin Dynasty(317-420), Washing Bowl Pool carved by dharma in the Southern Dynasty(420-589), stone bell in the Tang Dynasty(618-907), Iron Tower with thousands of Buddhist statues and Palace of Lying Buddhists, etc.

Visit Haixinshai Park. Haixinsha park is an island on the Pearl River, near Ersha Island and Guangzhou Bridge. There is a stadium in the park, viewed as a sailboat from the air. The opening ceremony of 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games was held in this park. Part of facilities of opening ceremony can still be found now.

Be transferred back to your hotel after the tour.
