Qingdao is located at the southern tip of the Shandong Peninsula. It is an important coastal city in east China and it is characterized by a unique blend of sea and mountains and a pleasant climate. Qingdao is a key economic center and port city in China famous for its cultural heritage and picturesque scenery. It is also one of China’s major seaports for foreign trade.Photo of Qingdao
 Qingdao has seven urban districts and five county-level cities under its jurisdiction with a total area of 10,654 square kilometers and a population of 7,311,200. The urban area measures 1,102 square kilometers and urban residents total 2,584,000. Qingdao lies in the North Temperate Zone and has the typical temperate monsoon climate. Under the direct influence of the southeastern monsoon and the sea currents and tides, the city proper features marked marine climate with humid air, mild temperature and clear-cut seasons. In spring, the weather becomes warmer slowly, usually one month later than the inland areas. It is humid and rainy in summer, but is free from fiercely hot days, while cool and dry in autumn. Winter here is long and usually windy but not unbearably cold.
As one of China's top ten economically dynamic cities, Qingdao has an excellent environment for investment and living. With the development of the economy, Qingdao has many world famous enterprises, such as Haier Group, Hisense Group, Qingdao Iron and Steel Group, Tsingtao Brewery Co. Ltd, Aucma Group, Etsong Group and Double Star Group. Recent years, it has built six state-level key development zones including Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Qingdao Free Trade Zone, Qingdao High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Qingdao Export Processing Zone, Qingdao Cross-Strait Agricultural Co-operation Exemplary Zone and Provincial-level Economic and Technological Development Zones. With those advantages, Qingdao is considered to be an ideal place for foreign investment.
Qingdao has convenient transportation. Qingdao Port is a famous natural port. It is an important gateway for international trade and a key transportation hub in the Yellow Sea region and along the west coast of the Pacific. It has a container dock, an ore dock, an oil dock and a coal dock with 97 international shipping routes linking more than 450 ports around the world. The air transport industry experienced rapid growth; it has 47 domestic lines and 19 international (regional) routes, connecting Qingdao with other major Chinese cities and many foreign countries. Qingdao lies within a well-developed motorway network formed by nine expressways. The construction of the Coastal highway also plays a significant role in Qingdao's traffic system.
Qingdao enjoys an abundance of natural scenic spots and places of interest. The most famous one is the Laoshan Mountain National Scenic Spot which know as the “second largest Taoist monastery in the world”. Nevertheless, Badaguan Scenic Area, Huiquan Beach, The Small Qingdao Island and Zhan Bridge are all very good places worth visiting.
