Southern Mosque

Southern Mosque is approach the South Gate of Urumqi, so it is named. Embraced by four minarets, the construction looks grand and elegant. The mosque has four floors with two underground and two above the ground. Shops and living areas are in the floors below ground while the prayer hall and seminary are on the above floors. The walls of the passageway leading to the prayer hall are decorated with carved orchids, plums, bamboo and lotuses.
