Southern Pastures

Southern Pastures, 75km south of Urumqi city, is located at the foot of the Tian Shan mountain range. It is a famous summer resort for forest of emerald green spruce rounds it while flowers, flocks and herds strew it. The sweet singing by Kazakh may let you immerse yourself, even inspires you to sing with them. If you visit the local yurts, the hospitable host will treat you with fragrant milk tea, mare's milk, cheese and roasted lamb. Horseracing and traditional Kazakh dancing are often held here.

West White Poplar Gully is the most typical sights in the Southern Pastures. After you walk 2 kilometers (about 1.2 miles) north into the gully, snow-capped peaks, spruce, dragon trees and a 2-meter (6.6 feet) wide waterfall show themselves in your eyes. You may consider you are in a paradise on earth.
