Wushan
is situated on the north bank of the Yangtze River and embraced by lovely
mountain peaks. This ancient Town is located on the northern side of the
Wu Gorge, where the Daning River and the Yangtze River converge.
Wushan
is one of the original locations of primitive civilization, having existed
since the latter part of the Shang Dynasty (16th - 11th century BC). Large
amounts of excavations show the fossils of Wushan Ape Man, which appeared
about 2 million years ago. Another tomb excavation of Han Dynasty mainly
includes gold-plating utensil and pottery vessels.
Wushan
is famous for its Three Terraces, Eight Scenes and Twelve Peaks. It is
the port for Lesser Three Gorges. Visitors can climb the summit of Mountain
Wushan to enjoy the the views of Wu Gorge and the spectacular river. Wushan
are also rich in natural resources. It has abundant native produce, including
medicinal herbs, tallow tree, raw lacquer and pear.
