The great wall in Ningxia was initially built in the Warring States Period (475-221 BC), then continued during the successive dynasties Qin, Han, Sui, Tang, and ended in the Ming Dynasty. The originally length was 1500 kilometers. The Qin wall is considered as one of the main part, which was built across the southern part of Ningxia from east to west. The wall was wandering on the steep mountain ridges and along river gorges to make good use of these natural barriers. Some sections have remained in good shape through the ages, giving the evidence to its reputation "the world's wonder".
