Beijing Walking Tour to Xubeihong Mermorial Hall, Xihai Area and Deshengmen

Visit Memorial Hall of Xubeihong. Located in Xinjiekou of Xicheng District, Memorial Hall of Xubeihong covers an area of 10,885 square meters. Xubeihong was an modern Chinese painter famous for his Chinese ink paintings of horses and birds. He is one of the first to create monumental oil paintings with epic Chinese themes. The Memorial Hall displays the whole life of Xubeihong, his representative work in different periods and the calligraphies and paintings he collected.

Then visit Memorial Hall of Guoshoujing. It is located in the Huitong Temple on the north bank of Xihai Lake. Guoshoujing was a Chinese astronomer, mathematician and water conservancy expert. He invented astronomical tools ahead of other countries. He also provided hydraulics systems and dug the Tonghui River in Beijing. Covering a area of 800 square menters, Memorial Hall introduces the Guoshoujing's achievements in many aspects.

Then visit Xihai Area. With green water, lotus leaves, willows and pavillions, the scenary of this area is beautiful.

Move on to visit Deshengmen Tower. Built in 1437, Deshengmen Tower was a part of Beijing's northern city wall. The building complex was composed of the gatehouse, archery tower, and the barbican. It is one of the three arrow towers that have been preserved in Beijing City and a landmark on the northern 2nd Ring Road.

Visit Chinese Ancient Coins Show in the tower. It is the only one coin museum in North China opened to the public. The museum exhibits Chinese ancient coin in different dynasties from the "shell coin" in Yinshang Period to the copper round coin in the Republic of China. There are also coins market in the museum where you can buy and exhange coins.

Then go to visit the largest literature museum in the world. The museum displays the history of China modern and contemporary literature and works of important writers and schools.

Back to your hotel after the tour. (Lunch)
